Organic coffee is a multimillion dollar industry and each year the sales of coffee are increasing. Exports of organic coffee are up in most of Europe and North America. It is usually grown in many countries – in Africa, Asia and South America. All over the world, people have become organic coffee drinkers, but Americans consume the majority of it.

Just like normal coffee, organic coffee is also available as decaffeinated, caffeinated, flavored, coffee sodas, coffee ice cream, coffee candies, etc. Unlike normal coffee which is decaffeinated using ethanol based solvents, organic coffee is decaffeinated using a process called Swiss Water.

Organic farming is widely accepted as environmentally friendly. Fertilizers that are allowed and used, under organic farming standards, include natural ones which in turn are beneficial not only to the crop being grown but also to the soil.

Organic coffee, and for that matter any organic crop, will benefit from the chemical tree nutrients they can absorb from the soil, richly enhancing taste. The term organic farming is often closely linked with fair trade practices, and ethical trading opens up avenues for responsible consumers to shop for goods that conform to the norms that fair trade supports.

The Health Benefits of Organic Coffee: Some of the risks associated with drinking large amounts of coffee can be attributed to chemical and pesticide residues as opposed to the coffee beans or the brew itself. Organic coffee reduces these risks because of the lack or reduction in synthetic additives used in organic coffee plantations.

The following are the main organic coffee benefits:
•High in antioxidants, vitamins and mineral content
•Free of pesticides and chemical fertilizers, which means no residues, and reduced risk of chemical ingestion

•Natural energy booster – organically grown coffee contains caffeine in its purest form

•Higher levels of antioxidants as opposed to conventionally grown coffee, translates into better defense against a wide range of diseases, that antioxidants guard against

To be able to fully benefit from café consumption, one must ensure that the beans are of the best quality. Of course, the health benefits associated with drinking this cherished brew are innumerable. For one, because of the stimulating effect of caffeine contained in this beverage, it improves concentration and thinking abilities.
