Most everyone is fanatical about their morning coffee. It is enervating and sets the tone for the whole day. For most it's the only way to wake up in the morning. It's the beverage of choice to jump start the day, a picker upper for the millions of coffee drinkers on the planet.
How does this all work? Why is coffee such a perky drink? It's the caffeine which is a certified stimulant which gives coffee that kick. It makes the heart pump faster and it also aids in digestion. The body's metabolic rate also surges with each cup of coffee. Some would even swear that they sweat a lot after taking coffee.
What Causes Excessive Sweating Is it Your Morning Coffee?
There's a medical condition called hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating. This is a condition shared by millions of Americans, as well as other people all across the world. The conditions may range from mild to extreme, and the perspiration gets to the point of becoming an embarrassment. At the very least, people suffering from this malady are open to ridicule from the general public who have no idea that such a thing even exists. It can happen to anyone, man and woman alike, although it is more embarrassing for the women to sweat in profusion.
Medical studies have shown that there is a correlation between mild cases of excessive sweating and high caffeine intake. The cup of morning coffee has been tagged as responsible for jump starting the body's sweat glands and over perspire. This may be due to either the body reacting and sweating due to the hot coffee; or that coffee triggers the sweat glands to perspire.
If you suffer from this condition, you might want to take a simple experiment. Try drinking your regular hot coffee in the morning and note how much you perspire. As part of the control, instead of drinking hot coffee, drinking iced or cold coffee instead. Repeat the experiment for several days and note down your reactions, if you sweated more or less. If you react in the same manner for both, meaning that you seem to sweat the same amount then it must be the caffeine, and it would be a good time to consider switching to decaf.
So what causes excessive sweating? Coffee is a known culprit because of the caffeine content, but it is not the only source of caffeine. You should also check out other beverages and drinks for caffeine content. High caffeine drinks include chocolate, tea, cola and energy drinks. You can even do your experiment again with these drinks and see if the results are the same. In which case, you would know which drinks to avoid.
